I have always sworn by the ancient solution passed down to me by the rhythymical and quaint songs of yore, the music of the past gone along times sir
take and capture the juice of a spatchcok chicken - thrice cooked like pub chips and then flung up into the air - then pressed aggressively into the nose of a passing old lady;
once this routine is done put the chip remnants up your bum hole with care not to ensmear the downy fluff clad about each cheek
by morning sir by od your cold and ague shall be goner than yesterday

Take some paracetamol and put a couple of slices of lemon and a couple of teaspoons of honey in a cup with boiled water and drink it. That'll sort you out

It's not nice but even water tastes sweet after.

I would recommend coconut oil!
Put about a teaspoonful in your mouth & swill it round for about 5mins, gargling it
Then spit it out (not down the sink as it will block it up) but down the loo
Repeat several times
It works, surprisingly, by attracting the bacteria that are causing the infection which is then being spat out
I didn't think it would work either! But it does

I always find gargling with diluted tcp does the trick when I've got a sore throat
